Rehoming a Parrot

teil

Whilst Uk Parrot Rescue are not currently rehoming parrots, we do sometimes have parrots already in our care who through various unforseen circumstances become available again for rehoming(see birds for rehoming on our forums for details).Whilst we thoroughly look at applicants and take every care to ensure they are placed in permanent loving homes initially ,unfortunately, sometimes it is beyond our control when peoples circumstances change..

We are happy to add details to our forums to assist people to rehome their parrots directly instead of going to rescues. In these cases UKPR is in no way responsible for those persons applying or involved in the process but instead offers another option to assist in what may be a difficult decision. If this method of rehoming is chosen it will be YOU who is responsible for making relevant homechecks and ensuring that you have chosen the right person that suits your parrots needs adequately.

how this would work:

  • The current owner (you) would fill in details of the parrot, name, age, likes, dislikes, etc(see questionaire below), the details would then be posted on the forum by yourself or by an administrator in our members birds for rehoming section, these questions give information to applicants about whether they feel they can fulfill the needs.
  • applicants can then reply and show their interest, ask any questions they may have
  • those feeling they would like to offer a home can then respond via the forums, (you can email or pm them for more questions before making your decision), it will then be YOU who goes through each applicant, asking questions/do homechecks etc until you feel you are satisfied you have a candidate or potential home that fulfils all the requirements and whom you feel happy to rehome your parrot to.

WE MUST STRESS IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO HOMECHECK AND ENSURE YOU HAVE A SUITABLE HOME THAT YOU ARE 100% HAPPY WITH- IF YOU NEED HELP OR TIPS WITH THIS ASK AN ADMINISTRATOR WHO CAN GIVE YOU GUIDANCE.

We recommend that where possible birds who have been together, stay together, especially those who are bonded as the effects of splitting them up can be detrimental to their well being, feel free to ask the [potential candidate what experience they have, what other pets they have, how often they are home etc, example questions can be given on request.
